25% off Special

Shop Special Offers
As a math major I'm into numbers. I downloaded my shop statistics and decided to run a 7 day special on my top products in the wish list. It's amazing how many people have not purchased these items. Several are my top sellers. The over the edge tree card has sold over 50 times. I hope this will help you save on these designs. This is my way of saying thank you for supporting my passion.

New Designs for June

I'm experimenting with new designs. I'm trying to design special embellishment that can be used as card toppers. I started thinking about the Alfred Hickok movie Rear Window for this design. When I showed it to my husband we came up with a lot of sentiment captions:
  • We're looking for a few good...
  • Time to go ??? watching
  • Hello neighbor
  • I see you have another birthday in the near future
  • Is it time to have your eyes checked?

Over the edge Peony
I purchased a new embossing machine and have been playing with creating beautiful cards. But I still love the look of the fancy cut borders which can be cut from card stock. I also love the look of step cards. These card has so many possibilities. Different sentiments, different positions of the steps or different number of steps provides added interest and covers many occasions.

I've also been surprised at how popular over the edge cards have become. This one is a bouquet of Peonies. It can be used on its own or as a stencil. I included a liner piece which can be colored to show through the inverse openings.

And lastly, a violet border with roses and daffodils in the corner.

Introducing Thistle the Hedgehog

It seems like every designer has a specific character or family of characters in their collection. I thought long and hard about what little fellow I'd like to promote. Now rabbits, bears, cats and dogs are the most popular. I thought about geese since their little goslings are so fuzzy and cute. So I looked for something unusual and found the cute little hedgehog.

Yes, they are a pet. When you research these little fellows you will find they curl up in a ball and all you see is their little nose. So I think I'm going to adopt his image and maybe start a series of Thistle and her friends. This is my first and is available in multiple formats including PDF.

Thistle now has a new friend, a baby owl named Whoot. Owls do prey on hedgehogs but these little babies don't know that yet. They are both nocturnal animals and just stumble onto each other in the dark. My second card has them singing up a storm. I'm sending this out to a lucky little girl so my verse inside says, "Guess who stayed up all night practicing the happy birthday song? Whoot and Thistle."

Thistle is small and the layers of his hair
Whoot and Thistle singing
has lots of turns and twists. You would think your cutting file would make a mess of it.

That's the beauty of Thistle. He doesn't care. In fact those unexpected accidents of curls and miss cuts make him all the more interesting.

The staff and notes are cut. I'm always amazed at how small and fine my cameo can cut. The secret is using good paper, double cut and slow the machine down. Since my background is blue I included the optional backing.

When I design my layered cutout characters I include a mat layer to work off of. If you cut it in the same cardstock as the layer it will be attached to then it does not show. This layer makes it simpler for you to line everything up.

I hope you find Thistle and friends will enter your collection. I have more ideas for them to come.

What's with the name?

In 2012 I became a grandma. My daughter asked me what I wanted my granddaughter to call me. I never thought about this. I guess to keep things straight she could call me Grandma Henry. This might confuse her since she has a great grandma. I told my daughter that Gwen would name me. She did, I'm sure with the help of her mommy. I became Gammy and as she got older the "R" was added. Grammy, Grammy, Grammy.

When I retired I began making more cards. Many of them were with her in mind. My specialty is the popup form of cards. That has led me into a lot of research with the hopes of creating a popup book for my grand "children". This includes my nieces children.
